My Soap Opera Life
Welcome to my merry-go-round, or rather, my new blog here at ClubMom.com! I'm so excited to be here. I'd love to sit and gush and ramble about all the wonderful mombloggers I have envied from afar as they spewed forth wit and wisdom (not to mention some incredibly embarrassing and highly emotional stories) but if I do that you'll see I'm prone to rambling when I'm nervous and excited.
Oh wait...you may have already figured that out. Hmm, maybe I'll just go with introducing myself and the cast of characters in my soap opera of a life. How's that sound?
- The Momma: um, well, that'd be me! I'm a freelance writer and homeschooling Momma. I work from home in western Washington state. Anybody remember that song, "Keep on Rocking Me, Baby"? Well, if you go "from Phoenix, Arizona, all the way to Tacoma", you'll drive past my freeway exit. heh heh. I take pride in being an equal opportunity mean mommy and in remembering to dust about once a year. Want to see what else I'm writing about? Let's see: I blog about small business at SmallBizMentor; women in business at Workerette; organic living and suburban homesteading at Going Green; and from time to time I contribute about all things home over at TheHomeCast. Plus I've been published in a couple of poetry anthologies, some eBooks, and a handful of magazines. You can find links to a lot of those pieces over at my personal blog, Raven Writes.
- The Little: the Little is five-and-some-change years old. She's been homeschooled since, well, technically since before she was born. Her father and I picked out names and made our educational choice before we even conceived her. The Little is a feisty, intelligent little beastie who alternates between making me proud and making me crazy. That is, I mean, she's a delightful child, full of energy and, er, "spirit".
- The Man: this one should be interesting! The Man proposed to me a couple of weeks after I was notified that I was indeed going to receive the honor of blogging here at ClubMom as a single parent. Something tells me the folks here will be okay with the idea of me blogging about the whole journey of being a married, then divorced, then remarried mom. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one here dealing with all the issues involved. At least I hope they will...what do you think? Show me some support. Anywho, the Man is a total John Wayne-type studmuffin, minus the drawl. (And no, you can't blackmail me by telling him I said that, because I'm sure he'll stop by here and pretend to be all surly and embarrassed, but deep down he'll be totally thrilled that I compared him to the ultimate stud, John Wayne. If he had that incredible Scottish burr and a kilt I'd compare him to my other craving, Sean Connery. But he doesn't, so, well...JW it is!)
This is just the short list of the folks whose antics I plan to use as blog fodder. Muahahaa! (Yes, that was an evil chuckle you heard from me. Be afwaid, be vewwy afwaid!) Anyway, I'll introduce you to a couple more tomorrow. Trust me: like you, I've got plenty of reasons to sit in the bathroom, scream into a pillow, and then pray, Stop the world, I want to get OFF!
For now, leave me a comment with a link to your blog or website so I can get to know you too! I promise to stop by your blog and give you lots of link love, particularly if you're really hilarious or if you are way smarter than me. Please do pop back and see me tomorrow so I can get an ego boost and not feel shunned.
I mean, so I know I'm doing something right. heh heh.
Hi Melonie! Welcome to ClubMom! I'm looking forward to reading your blog--I school-at-home two of my four kids--and I live very near you! (Email me and we can compare!)

Hi Melodee, thanks for stopping by! I popped by your blog yesterday and finally remembered how to add someone to my Mom Network...but by the time I figured it out, I was so tired I figured I'd touch base tomorrow. Which is now today. So I'll be sending you a private message in a moment. heh heh
Thanks, Tami! I'm so glad you stopped by. Come see me frequently...everywhere. ;-) Love ya!
